Volunteer day of KÉPES scheme in the Palotaváros Member of Ligetsor Nursery School

The initiative of KÉPES (i.e. the Community Value Creation Scheme – Together for Székesfehérvár!) were started in 2013 with the partnership of local companies and the municipality of Székesfehérvár. In the framework of this collaboration, the renovation of the yards and sanitary utilities, the replace of outdoor toys and the improvement of tools have been processed for 7 years. In the collaboration of 2019, nearly HUF 35 million were invested in institutions and the annual scheme was closed on Tuesday, 10 September with the usual voluntary day. The team of supporters, parents and teachers gathered in the yard of the Ligetsor Nursery to paint the fence.

In 2019 the yards of the Palotaváros Member of Ligetsor Nursery School, Szárazrét Nursery School, Rákóczi Street Nursery School and the Nefelejcs Street Member of Napsugár Nursery School were renovated from where the irredeemable and dangerous playground accessories were dismantled and replaced with new ones. An artificial turf football field was developed in the yard of one of the nurseries, storage facilities, tables and benches were renovated and replaced, and bike sheds were renewed as well. New cool mist gate on the Nursery of Palotaváros. As in previous years, the renovation jobs were carried out by experts from the City Trusteeship during the summer months, thus disturbing the operation of the nursery schools to the smallest possible extent. The children warmly welcomed the beautiful yards.

The KÉPES Team, started with 10 organisations 7 years ago, expanded to 27 local companies and enterprises. The participating companies subsidised the modernisation of nurseries with more than HUF 16 million. Székesfehérvár City Council has doubled this sum. Besides the financial support, the scheme aims to enable the further development of awareness-raising and the culture of volunteering: so as a closing of the scheme a voluntary day was organised in the nursery of Palotaváros where among the participants we could met the nursery working groups, children, parents and players of Hydro Fehérvár AV19.

Sixty-five people grabbed gloves, sandpaper and brush from the representatives and employees of the companies to paint the fence of the nursery.

“In 2019 we have given high priority to the maintenance and modernisation of nurseries and crèches owned by the town, and the majority of this work were conducted at the end of the educational year. In this year, nearly HUF 300 million were allocated for this purpose. It is very gratifying that in the framework of KÉPES, in the name of the social responsibility, next to the municipality the leading companies in employment and local tax-payer work for the community.” – said Mayor dr. András Cser-Palkovics on the voluntary day. He added: the KÉPES scheme has already outreached its original aims and now it is woven by communities and groups of friends. Important works were carried out in the past few years and this year meant no difference.

“Everyone who did something for the community knows that there is no bigger cohesion than a work carried out together. I wish to thank your work as, in the framework of KÉPES, we were able to prove that with an innovative idea and a group of people eager to make a contribution, nothing is impossible.” – added Attila Viza, the Municipal Councilor of the district in the yard of the nursery.

Rita Gelencsér, the director of the nursery, recalled the moment when they were told that their Palotaváros Member of Ligetsor Nursery School was added to the KÉPES scheme: “The works began in the early June and took one month. We have had plenty of new toys, our sandbox was renovated, we got a new cool mist gate and, what is more, we got a long-awaited container for toys.” – expressed her gratitude on behalf of the institution and the children to the participants and the Municipality of Székesfehérvár.

With the words of Attila Szincsák, the director of DENSO Gyártó Magyarország Kft, the initiative has reached a milestone after 7 years. “We accomplished the road that we started in 2013 with great friends. We have become more and more courageous during the years, dreamed big and currently 27 company are represented under the auspices of KÉPES scheme. It is an end of an era, thanks to the Municipality and the KÉPES, we reached all the crèches and nurseries of Székesfehérvár. After the last meeting I dare to say that we are not stopping here, we are going forward! I can share an insight about our further plans: as we found out, there are 21 elementary schools in the city.” – said the administrator of the program.

About the KÉPES scheme:

The aim of the initiative designated KÉPES (i.e. the Community Value Creation Scheme – Together for Székesfehérvár!) is for the corporate sphere and the city council to join together to meet challenges waiting for solutions. In the center of the scheme stands the shared responsibility, which offers an optimal solution for the participants, as thanks to the differing scope of activities, professional knowledge, relationship capital and competency the companies together are able to perform better than during their independent CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities.

The scheme takes into consideration the current economical and social conditions, therefore provides optimal solution for the realisation of the social responsibility. The basic idea of the scheme is for the participants to create a value together which serves the local community in a long-term. In the first three year, this goal meant the modernisation of sanitary facilities of nurseries owned by the Municipality od Székesfehérvár. During the first 7 years of KÉPES scheme, the sanitary facilities and yards of 18 nurseries and crèches were modernised in the value of HUF 283,9 million.
