Today, Masterplast entered into a contract with the National Hospital Directorate General upon the authorization of the Operational Group, for the supply of protective coveralls necessary to control the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. By September 2021, Masterplast will supply certified protective clothing to Hungarian health care in the amount of approximately HUF4,464 billion. The production chain is completely realized on the basis of a domestic cooperation, ensuring the maintenance of about 1,000 light industrial jobs as well. With the production and sale of finished health care products, the Hungarian company is taking another significant step towards achieving its strategic goals announced in January.
As an important element of Masterplast’s updated strategy, published in January 2021, it has highlighted the company’s health industry ambitions and unveiled an ambitious growth vision towards its investors. In connection with the health care business, in addition to building additional raw material production capacity, the entry into the market of finished healthcare products was also included. It was already at the end of 2020 when the first sales of finished health care products took place, which laid the foundation for the company to enter into a new industrial segment. In parallel, due to its careful preparatory work, the company was the first Hungarian manufacturer to carry out the domestic and international quality certification of health protective coveralls – which was a precondition for the establishment of the business.
The supply chain was established through a true domestic collaboration, where, in the situation of raw materials with deficiencies, MOL Group supplies polypropylene from what Masterplast produces two-layer, breathable basic textiles in its German plant. Finally, the finished product is being made with the involvement of nearly 50 domestic sewing factories. Based on pre-orders, Masterplast already produced 300,000 coveralls in Hungary in February and March, which were delivered to Hungarian health care professionals, therefore, the use of qualified products could begin immediately.
“We do take a lot of pride in fulfilling the Hungarian health care’s demand for protective clothing with our own production, which, in addition to strengthening Hungary’s pandemic defense capability, also supports the preservation of about 1,000 light industrial jobs. Thereupon, we are taking another big step towards the implementation of our strategy, and from now on we are available to the Hungarian health care industry as a manufacturer of finished products not just as a supplier of raw materials. With our two major ongoing investments in the health care industry, we are developing an integrated production capacity that will enable us to provide a continuous supply of protective clothing and isolation equipment for the Hungarian and regional health care – even after the pandemic, besides a sustainable increase.” added Róbert Nádasi, CEO of Masterplast Nyrt.
