Manufacturing base Sárszentmihály, Hungary

The Hungarian headquarters of the Masterplast Group and one of its decisive manufacturing bases are in Sárszentmihály. The nonwoven fleece raw materials are made here, together with the multi-layer membranes built from them, the roof underlays that protect roof structures, and the modular building elements. The base builds on manufacturing technology of its own development, certified quality management and continuous technical development — and so secures constant quality and dependable product supply for its Hungarian and European partners.
Nonwoven fleece manufacturing
Fleece is the invisible but decisive base layer of most up-to-date construction membranes and of many industrial products. In our Sárszentmihály plant we have built a unique nonwoven manufacturing platform by combining specialised technological solutions, which allows an exceptionally wide product specification.
- BICO technology — bicomponent fibre forming, in which the core and the sheath of the fibre can be made of different polymers, so the properties of the fleece can be tuned to a purpose.
- Inline film forming — the film layer extruded directly onto the fleece layer, bonded at the level of the material, in a single manufacturing process.
- Biaxial stretching — simultaneous stretching lengthwise and crosswise significantly increases the mechanical strength of multi-layer products.
- LINOPORE® / LINOBARRIER® — trademarked product families, vapour-permeable and vapour-barrier respectively.
- Online quality control — continuous monitoring and full batch traceability throughout manufacturing.
Single-layer PP/PE fleece is made in the 15–120 g/m² weight range and in widths up to 3.2 m, and can be ordered in antibacterial, hydrophobic, hydrophilic, UV-resistant or flame-retardant versions on request. It is this flexibility that lets the same raw material serve industries from construction membranes to hygiene, furniture, automotive and filtration applications.
Roof underlay manufacturing
The roof underlay decides how much vapour can leave the structure and how much water can get in — that is, it directly affects the lifetime of the roof. In Sárszentmihály the manufacture of roof underlays and multi-layer membranes builds on the technological base of fleece manufacturing.
The membranes made with inline film forming and biaxial stretching give high mechanical strength and precisely set vapour properties at the same time. This is how we produce the diffusion, vapour-permeable roof underlays that let the structure breathe, and the vapour-barrier versions that keep internal moisture in check. LINOPORE® vapour-permeable and LINOBARRIER® vapour-barrier technology shows its worth in this field above all: every function of the layered build is united in a single, durable membrane.
Modular architecture
With the MASTERHOUSE programme Masterplast is a pioneering developer and manufacturer of modular architecture in Hungary. The essence of it is that most of the building is completed not on the building site but in a controlled factory environment.
- Factory prefabrication — some 80% of the building is completed in the manufacturing hall, with automotive precision.
- BIM design and multi-stage quality control — from design to construction, every step serves predictable quality.
- Plannable cost and fast construction — the standardised modules come together into a turnkey building within a few months, with no hidden items.
An important difference: the load-bearing capacity of a module exceeds 400 kg/m², so the MASTERHOUSE system is not a lightweight structural technology — in load-bearing capacity and durability it is comparable to traditional building methods. The programme scales from affordable apartment housing through family houses to office buildings, accommodation and public buildings.
